Graduates from Cañete's MCC may take board exam

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City College under Dr. Susana Cabahug has prepared test papers for graduates from the MCC run by Dr. Paulus Mariae Cañete so they may be able to take the September 25 Licensure Examination for Teachers.

Cabahug, the administrator of the MCC which the Mandaue City government recognized, said graduates from Cañete’s MCC may take the validating examination starting today as long have they have complied with certain conditions.

Cabahug said they hastened the review of the credentials of graduates of B.S in Elementary Education, B.S. Education and the Diploma in Professional Education (DPE) from Cañete’s school so they may be able to take the licensure examination set by Professional Regulation Commission.

She said once they have passed their original credentials and some requirements, she will immediately administer the validation test.

Earlier, the board of trustees of MCC approved the move to accept the transferees from Cañete’s MCC to avoid problems with the PRC in the future.

For graduates from Cañete’s school to take the board exam, they must show evidence of their completion of the degree program.

Cabahug said these graduates must present to them an original copy of their credentials for review in order for them to take the validating test.

If they passed, they will be given a new transcript of records with Cabahug’s signature.

Cabahug said the transcript bearing her signature will be submitted to PRC since the MCC under her administration is the one recognized by Commission on Higher Education.

At least 30 students of Cañete’s MCC have already applied for the upcoming board examination.

But the PRC-7 informed them that they could not take the examination unless they have certification that their school “has an authority to operate board programs from CHED.”

So far, only two of the 30 students could take the validating test since the others failed to have their credentials reviewed by Cabahug for them to take the board examination.

Last week, four examinees submitted their credentials for review to Yolando Lontok of the Legal Service Department of CHED-7.

Lontok was in Cebu upon the request of Cebu sixth district Representative Luis Gabriel Quisumbing to help the students take the board exam.

But Cabahug said what they have submitted to Lontok was only a copy of their credentials that is why she is still waiting for them to submit the original ones for evaluation.

Lontok visited Cebu last Tuesday again to personally help the students comply with their requirements.

When The FREEMAN called up Cañete for his reaction, he did not answer despite several calls through his cellular phone. — (FREEMAN)
