LTFRB to file case versus 12 "fixers"

- Garry B. Lao -

CEBU, Philippines - Showing it is bent in its campaign against fixing, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 7 Regional Director Ahmed Cuizon is pursuing the filing of a complaint for estafa against 12 “fixers.”

Cuizon has urged public transport operators to avoid dealing with fixers and follow legal procedures in registering their units.

Cuizon, who assumed office last December 16, yesterday said their office is firm in its efforts to file cases against 12 individuals who demanded money from operators in exchange for transacting business with LTFRB.

“Nanawagan gyud ko sa mga operators nga dili mo-transact anang mga fixers. They have no reason to deal with fixers,” Cuizon said.

The director added that they are closely coordinating with the Mabolo Police Station in their all-out campaign against fixers, who he said destroy the credibility of the agency.

Cuizon said the LTFRB now allows only the operators or their liaison officers and lawyers to transact business.

He is also considering the transfer of their office to another location. This is because he observed that beside their rented building is a commercial office wherein fixers often converge.

“Kung imong matan-aw sa police blotter, ang naa nabutang sa biktima mao ang LTFRB compound. Kaning mga fixers mohatag man pud og calling card sa mga nag-transact sa ilang mga units bearing the address of LTFRB building. Naduhigan gihapon ang pangalan sa among ahensya,” Cuizon added.  (FREEMAN)
