Pusher, nephew caught in Danao

CEBU, Philippines - An alleged bigtime pusher and his nephew were arrested by the operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group yesterday morning in Barangay Poblacion, Danao City.

Authorities said before his arrest, Johnder Beduya, 31, has been on their watch-list.

Beduya’s nephew, Nelson Laguna, 19, was also arrested after PAIDSOTG operatives found a small pack of suspected shabu from his possession.

Beduya was arrested by virtue of search warrant issued by Judge Marilyn Lagura-Yap of Regional Trial Court Branch 23 in Mandaue City.

Taken to the crime laboratory in Camp Sotero Cabahug were the 11 packs of suspected shabu worth P11,500 confiscated from Beduya and Laguna.

Police also recovered from Beduya a paltik Smith and Wesson .357 magnum loaded with four bullets.

Superintendent Teofilo Siclot, chief of PAIDSOTG, said Beduya is a level-two pusher who could dispose of P100,000 worth of shabu a week.

Siclot said Beduya was under surveillance a week before they applied for a search warrant before the court.

“Dili lang gyud ni siya ingon pirmi. Kana lang dunay kalihokan sa lugar molihok sad ni siya unya dinagko gyud,” he said.

Beduya and Laguna were heading to the slaughterhouse in Barangay Danasan, which is celebrating its barangay fiesta today, when apprehended by the lawmen.

Laguna is a butcher at the slaughterhouse.

Beduya, who used to be a fisherman, said he has been selling shabu for five years now.

Violations of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 and RA 8294 will be filed against Beduya and a case for Section 11 of RA 9165 will be filed against Laguna before the Danao City Prosecutor’s Office this week. 

The two are temporarily detained at the Talisay City Police Station.   - (THE FREEMAN)
