CEBU, Philippines - Another salesman of a softdrinks company fall prey to a motorcycle-riding robber at the corner of Almendras and Cabahug Streets, Barangay Mabolo last Saturday afternoon.
Arman Magallano, 25, salesman of Coca Cola softdrinks and San Miguel Beer company, lost at least P16,000 cash to a lone robber who wore a full-faced helmet and clad in black jacket.
SPO3 Elmer Tanjay, investigating officer of the Mabolo Police Station, said this was the third time in that particular street corner alone that a salesman was robbed since January this year.
According to the victim, he was transacting with a customer at a sari-sari store in the said place at 3 p.m. that day when a man suddenly appeared before him and pulled out an undetermined caliber of firearm.
The man poked the gun at the victim’s right side then demanded for his money.
Fearing for his life, the victim immediately handed over the more than P16,000 that he collected for the day. The victim also gave away his green clutch bag which contained assorted coins.
The robber rode back on the motorcycle he parked nearby and sped off towards Barangay Lahug. He was described to be about 5’8” tall and medium-built. The victim proceeded to the police station to report the incident.
In Mabolo Police Station alone, Tanjay said, almost ten robbery cases victimizing salesmen have been reported to their station for this year alone, including the three incidents at the corner Almendras and Cabahug Streets. Tanjay said their counterparts at Fuente Police Station arrested two robbers who victimized other salesmen.
“Pero murag daghan na silang grupoha. Ang ilang style kung asa makapabor, ngadto sila manulis,” he said. — (FREEMAN)
