CEBU, Philippines - While some individuals criticize the Cebu Provincial Government’s Suroy-Suroy Sugbo as monotonous, today’s round called “Explore the Midwest” is something for Chinese Consul-General He Shi Jing to find it out.
Jing and his family have confirmed their participation in the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo today until tomorrow, exploring the city and municipalities in the midwest of Cebu. They first joined the two-day activity in April in Camotes group of Islands.
Jing earlier said he found the program very good to promote Cebu in the world since it is localized.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia expects a lot of businessmen from the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry to join the activity today.
Around 200 participants are expected to join today’s Suroy-Suroy.
CCCI president and honorary consul of Portugal, Samuel Chioson, is a regular participant of the program.
The term “suroy-suroy” started from CCCI that gave Garcia the idea to bring it to towns.
The activity is now a regular activity of CCCI every June of each year as part of the Cebu Business Month.
The convoy of buses, cars and vans will depart from the Capitol at 8:00 in the morning today for Balamban town via Naga-Uling road for church visit and tour at the shipbuilding firm, Tsuneishi Heavy Industries.
The group will then proceed to Asturias, then to Tuburan for museum visit and watch the sunset in the seashore of Maravilla in Tabuelan.
Accommodations are in the resorts in Balamban and Toledo City.
Tomorrow, a Mass will be held at San Rafael Church in Aloguinsan before they will go to the museum and organic farm visit and river cruise at Bojo river; and then proceed to Pinamungajan church.
The participants will witness the Hinulawan Festival in Toledo City as the last stop of the two-day activity before returning back to Cebu City.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Enforcement Management of Toledo City has issued traffic advisory to motorists and riding public in line with the said activities.
The Cebu Provincial Police Office has requested the local government unit of Toledo City to close some portions of the main thoroughfare for tomorrow’s traffic.
With this, TEM-Toledo City announced that private and public vehicles are not allowed to enter the D.Macapagal Highway from corners Livre Street to Trocio Street starting 12:00 noon until the end of the occasion.
Vehicles from Cebu City and Balamban are diverted to Espinosa Boulevard or Osmeña Street via Trocio Street.
