CEBU, Philippines - A man was killed while another one was seriously injured after their motorcycle collided with an Isuzu trooper on the national highway of Barangay Damulog, Sogod Monday afternoon.

Roderick Pacdaco, 29, of #89 Nivel Hills, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City died of serious physical injuries after he was ran over by the Isuzu Trooper (GPR 884) driven by Renato de Leon, 51, of Barangay Poblacion, Daanbantayan.

Police said the fatality was riding on pillion with Roldan Pinote, 30, of Barangay Cogon-Ramos, Cebu City who was driving the Kawasaki Aura motorcycle (YG 8326) on their way to Bogo City. Both were rushed to Juan Dosado Memorial Hospital in Sogod but Pacdaco was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Pinote was later referred to a hospital in Cebu City due to serious injuries he sustained in different parts of his body.

PO1 Edmund Sumalinog said based on their investigation, the motorcycle was traveling on a high speed towards Bogo City when it suddenly encroached on the opposite lane while negotiating on a blind curve.

Pinote allegedly failed to notice the approaching Isuzu vehicle, which was traveling on the opposite lane, resulting to the collision.

Pacdaco was thrown about five meters away from the point of impact while Pinote was dragged on the road together with his motorcycle.

De Leon voluntarily surrendered to the responding policemen but both parties allegedly plan to amicably settle the incident.

Pacdaco’s body now lies at the Rolling Hills Funeral Parlor in Mandaue City. –(FREEMAN)
