- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon -

CEBU, Philippines - Three suspect drug pushers are now facing charges in court after they were caught selling illegal drugs in San Fernando and Danao City.

In Sitio Lakaron, Barangay Pitalo, San Fernando, operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested Gyndell Cabigon and Geronimo Canicon during a buy-bust operation.

Prosecutor Jay Paradiang of the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office recommended no bail for Cabigon while a bail of P200,000 was set for Canicon’s temporary liberty.

Cabigon was charged for violating Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165 while Canicon was charged separately for violating Section 11 of the same law.

On March 24, around 7:00 p.m., Cabigon, who has been under surveillance by the PDEA, was caught selling one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing 0.05 grams of shabu in a buy-bust operation.

The P500 buy-bust money was given to Cabigon, popularly known as “Onto” by the confidential informant and after a while, the suspect handed over the heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet to the “buyer.”

After Cabigon was arrested, an operative saw his alleged cohort, Canicon, trying to run away but was immediately collared.

Recovered from Cabigon were five pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 0.05 gram each or a total of 0.25 grams.

In Danao City, a woman, who is allegedly a level two drug pusher was nabbed by the police officers inside her residence on F. Ralota St., Barangay Poblacion, Saturday morning.

Flordeliz Mata, 35, was arrested by the operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group. Confiscated from her possession were 2.23 grams of suspected shabu amounting to more or less P22,000.

The arrest was made by virtue of search warrant issued by Judge Marilyn Yap of Regional Trial Court branch 28 in Mandaue City.

Mata has been under surveillance for a couple of weeks before the warrant was carried out about 9:30 in the morning.

Supt. Teofilo Siclot, Deputy Provincial Director for Operations and PAIDSOTG chief said Mata has four specific areas where her illegal drugs are sold, and one is on F. Ralota St.

He said during the arrest of the suspect, three customers were inside her house allegedly about to buy illegal drugs.

Mata is allegedly able to sell from five to 10 grams of illegal drugs amounting more or less P118,000 per day or 35 to 70 grams of illegal drugs amounting more or less P826,000 per week.

Mata confessed that her source was someone from Danao City but she refused to disclose the name.

Siclot said an informant told him that Mata has also transported one-half to one kilogram of illegal drugs amounting to P11.8 million to Leyte but the information is still to be verified.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
