Woman stabs 'husband' during argument

CEBU, Philippines - A man is in critical condition after he was stabbed by his live-in partner Friday afternoon in Barangay Campo, San Francisco, Camotes.

Bernard Dungog, 23, sustained a single stab wound in his left lower chest and was rushed to Ricardo Maningo District Hospital in San Francisco but was referred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center due to the seriousness of his injury.

Responding police arrested and detained the suspect, Edelie Sulabar, also 23, at San Francisco Police Station.

PO2 Rongy Cidro disclosed that prior to the incident, the couple had verbal tussle regarding their child.

Sulabar allegedly told police in the middle of their argument Dungog punched her in the face prompting her to go to the kitchen, took a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest.

The suspect voluntarily surrendered but police failed to recover the kitchen knife she used in the stabbing.

Cidro said the argument of the couple, who were living together for three years now, stemmed from their one-year-old son.

“Tungod kuno sa ilang anak maong wa kuno sila magkasinabot,” Cidro said, adding Sulabar refused to explain further.

Police said Dungog will no longer file a case against Sulabar while their child is temporarily in the custody of the victim’s mother.

Meanwhile, a laborer was stabbed by an unidentified person on B. Aranas Extension, Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City at past 3 a.m. yesterday.

Josephus Iñigo, 33, of Tres De Abril Street, Barangay Labangon, could no longer talk after the perpetrator slashed his neck with a knife.

Results of Homicide Section investigation showed the victim was with his friends walking along the road where he used to reside when a man suddenly appeared and with no apparent reason, choked him and slashed his neck.

The victim was rushed by his friends to the Cebu City Medical Center while the perpetrator ran and disappeared.

Responding policemen from the Mobile Patrol Group recovered a stainless kitchen knife measuring 16 inches from the crime scene and turned it over to the Homicide Section.

PO2 Jodan Batucan said the victim could not identify his attacker but said he must be someone whom he had an offense with.

Batucan said the victim had to write down his thoughts on a paper because he could no longer talk because of his neck injury. —(FREEMAN)
