CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Government yesterday awarded 426 employees who have been in service at City Hall for decades.
The employees who have been in the service for at least 10 up to 40 years received a plaque of appreciation and later shall receive a loyalty bonus.
Those who have reached 10 years in service will receive P10,000 based on the Department of Budget and Management rules. The DBM rules say that after receiving the first loyalty bonus, the employees are entitled to P5,000 loyalty bonus every after five years as long as they are serving the government.
During yesterday’s conferment ceremony, there were 52 employees awarded for their 10 years of service, 77 employees awarded for serving 15 years now, 127 employees serving for 20 years, 46 employees serving for 25 years, 101 employees serving for 30 years and 21 employees serving for 35 years now.
There were two employees who have been with the city government for 40 years already. They were, however, not able to attend the awarding.
Among the awardees were Assistant City Administrator Veronica Morelos for her 25 years in service, Farlash Acenas of the Public Information Office for her 20 years in service and Engr. Dionision Gualiza of the Department of Public Services for his 30 years in service.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama ordered that next year, aside from merely conferring loyalty awards, they will choose top three distinguished loyal employees. It shall be a separate award from the Outstanding City Hall Employees Award.
This is to add excitement and create a motivating factor for employees to do more in their job.
“Our administration cares, shares and will serve,” Rama said.
In celebration of the 74th Charter Day today, all 4,700 City Hall employees will receive P10,000 productivity bonus in recognition of their hard work.
The city has appropriated P47 million from the Supplemental Budget No. 1 for this purpose. — (FREEMAN)
