P1.4M drugs destroyed in court
CEBU, Philippines - A total of P1.4 million worth of illegal drugs were jointly destroyed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City yesterday.
The 204 grams of shabu was destroyed by flushing into the toilet bowl. The destruction was witnessed by the PDEA agents, court employees and the members of the media.
RTC executive judge Mienrado Paredes said the illegal drugs were evidence of the 45 drug cases that were already terminated in his sala.
“The shabu must be destroyed so that it cannot be used by others who have the plan to steal it,” Paredes explained.
Prior to the destruction of the evidence, an examination was conducted by the PDEA agents to ensure that the evidence is genuine. After the laboratory test, each sachet was flushed into the drain. — (FREEMAN)
