Court set to rule on case of nursing stude
CEBU, Philippines - The Regional Trial Court will hand down next week its decision on the criminal case filed against those who allegedly robbed and killed a 20-year-old student nurse last two years ago.
Judge Ramon Daomilas Jr. said he has scheduled the promulgation on February 7. It was slated tentatively yesterday, but Daomilas said he is still on the process of evaluation.
“I have to be very careful in coming out with the decision especially there is death in the case. I am still in the process of evaluation,” Daomilas said yesterday.
Ruby Jade Ruba met her untimely death when robbers grabbed her mobile phone and subsequently shot her on March 6, 2008 in Barangay Capitol Site, barely three weeks before her graduation. She was hit on the chest and wrist.
Charges for robbery and homicide were eventually filed against suspects Aivan “Eping” Barabat, Mark Anthony Gabriel and Karl Marx Carticiano.
Ruba was a graduating student of the Cebu Doctor’s University. She was the only daughter of a Coast Guard officer whose family is based in Macrohan, Southern Leyte. (FREEMAN NEWS)
