CEBU, Philippines - The Danao City Council approved last Friday P351.344 million for the town's budget for 2011, an amount lower by P4 million than what was proposed by Mayor Ramon Durano Jr.
Durano had proposed a budget of P355.031 million.
But the Council's version of the budget increased the total allocation for salaries by spreading the budget for personnel services Durano had proposed P167.514 million for personnel services, but the Council raised the amount to P193.897 million.
The Council also raised the capital outlay to P167.514 million from the proposed P57.012 million.
The Council also increased the budget for the mayor's office to P18.299 million from the proposed P10.346 and the budget for the salaries under the mayor's office to P15.798 million from the proposed P13.786 million.
The budget for the Council was also increased to P58.116 million from the proposed P17.990 million, which now covers the Legislative Assistance Fund (LAF).
The other offices with increased budget include the city administrator's office - P2.378 million to P8.920 million; city treasurer's office - P12.746 million to P13.292 million; city legal office - P1.192 million to P1.329 million; city prosecutor's office - P262.067 million to P310.469; and city health office - P13.245 million to P18.574 million.
Meanwhile, the Council slashed the budget for General Services from P47.639 million - with P28.793 million for salaries alone - to P25.349 million. The budget for the city engineer's office was also slashed to P24.495 million from the original P52.568 million, which included P31.654 for salaries.
The council reduced the maintenance and operating expense budget of the city's bureaucracy to P83.139 million from the proposed P130.505 million. (FREEMAN NEWS)
