Executed man found in Pung-ol

- Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja -

CEBU, Philippines - The bullet-riddled and hog-tied body of an unidentified man was found yesterday morning in the mountain barangay of Pung-ol Sibugay, Cebu City.

The man was described to be about 35 to 40 years old, of slim build, about 5’4” tall, and with fair complexion and short hair. He also had a tattoo that read “Jaycamz” on his right forearm and was wearing a striped shirt and black shorts.

The victim was found in a drainage ditch beside the Transcentral Higway in sitio Buwanan, hog-tied with packaging tape and with gunshot wounds to different parts of his body.

Aside from his hands and feet, the man’s face was also covered with packaging tape.

A motorcycle-for-hire driver told the police that he was home when he heard several gunshots around 2:30 a.m.

He opened the window and saw a black van leaving the place. He eventually saw the body in the ditch and informed the barangay officials who in turn informed the police.

Some residents living near the crime scene also heard the gunshots but chose not to check what was going on for fear of getting hurt or killed.

Responding policemen recovered nine empty .45 cal. shells, two deformed slugs and three pieces of fragments from the crime scene.

PO2 Jodan Batucan of the Homicide Section said they are not yet sure of the motive behind the killing, but they suspect it involved a syndicate operation.

Their informant was also not able to get the plate number of the van.

Residents of the barangay said a lot of bodies have been disposed of in that area since there are few inhabitants.

The body, which was taken to the St. Francis Funeral Homes along N. Bacalso Ave., remained unidentified as of yesterday evening.  (FREEMAN)
