City, barangay execs attend 3-day seminar

CEBU, Philippines - City officials, department heads, and barangay captains of Mandaue City recently held a three-day live-in seminar to formulate the Executive-Legislative Agenda for 2011.

The live-in seminar was held last Sunday until Tuesday this week at Hidden Valley Resort in barangay Lamac, Pinamungajan town.

Mayor Jonas Cortes said the seminar was important because it will directly set the direction of the city government in the next decade.

The activity will also set the focus of all department heads and barangay captains and city councilors.

The participants were divided into four groups wherein they were made to compose the institutional sector, economic sector, environment, and social sector.

During the seminar, the mission and vision of the city which was formulated in 2007 during the first term of office of Cortes was also re-evaluated.

In 2007, the city's vision was to make Mandaue City as a livable, premiere, and industrial city but now they want the city to be a premiere, livable and the business capital in the next few years.

The mayor also said that starting January, it will only have four stages from 17 stages for businessmen to acquire a business permit.

The usual waiting time of 15 days have been reduced to for 30 minutes.

Starting January, the city will establish business one stop shops (BOSS) at city hall, Parkmall, and Towns and Bridges. (FREEMAN)
