"Kasadya" launched

CEBU, Philippines – The Junior Chamber International (JCI), in collaboration with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP), officially launched yesterday "Kasadya sa Plaza 2010."

"This is the first ever Kasadya sa Plaza 2010," KBP's president Carlo Duga-Duga said.

A variety of shops, food stalls, acoustic nights, battle of the bands, and barangayan dance contest are being lined up.

"Kasadya," approved by Mayor Michael Rama for the benefit of children and youth and said "It is only my desire as a young boy to continuously bring happiness to society and make Plaza Independencia not only a landmark but also a center of tourism".

Kasadya sa Plaza 2010 will start on December 11and extend until January 21.

Acoustic Night, which is staged nightly, starts at around six.

"This is going to be a Christmas Bonanza." We formally open this not to compete with the others but to join forces with them in celebration of this yuletide season," said JCI president Reeve I. Jumawan.

The highlights of this include "Belen" making contest, "Parol" making contest, "Battle of the Bands" and "Barangay dance contest".

Prizes will come from Globe, San Miguel, and My Phone.

In the "Belen" contest, winners will receive P30, 000 for the 1st prize, P15, 000 for the 2nd prize, P10, 000 for the 3rd prize.

The first, second, and third place winners in the "Parol" contest will, respectively, walk away with P15,000, P10, 000, P5, 000. - July Ann Carmel Antoni, USJ-R Masscom Intern

The winner of the "Battle of the Bands" will receive P50, 000 and will be the representative of Cebu for the TM Astig Feast (Nationwide Band Contest) in Manila.

The first three winners in the barangay dance competition shall receive P25, 000, P10, 000, and P 5, 000 respectively and will compete in the National Dance Competition in Manila all expenses paid by Globe.

Only Globe and TM subscribers are qualified to join the contest.

Kasadya sa Plaza 2010 have also "Christmas Bazaar" and is still open for renting of Shops worth P 8, 000 (3m x 3m)with 1 unit tent 2m x 3m that is good for 47 days. Food stalls are worth P 15, 000 (3m x 6m) and are full but still organizers are planning to add for the sake of those who would want to be part of the affair. Using of Electrical consumption of 100 watts will be paying P 450.00 as charge.

Members of JCI hopes for the success of the 1st ever Kasadya sa Plaza 2010 to continue its service for the upcoming years. (FREEMAN)
