Talisay barangay chiefs to take oath Nov. 27

-

CEBU, Philippines - Newly elected barangay captains who are allied with the administration in Talisay City are set to take their oath of office on November 27, two days before they will formally assume their elective positions.

Councilor Rodi Cabigas of the administration party, Alayon, said they have 15 barangay chiefs and their respective council members will be sworn in that day.

First district Rep. Eduardo Gullas, president of the Alayon Party, will administer the oath-taking ceremony to be held at 3 p.m. at the City Hall grounds.

Meanwhile, incoming Linao barangay chief Fe Ylanan said she is not running for Association of Barangay Councils president contrary to rumors. Being on her first term, Ylanan, wife of opposition City Councilor Val Ylanan, she would rather concentrate in her own barangay first.

The administration has 15 barangay chiefs on its side, while the opposition camp has only seven, Ylanan included.

The barangay chief said that as of yesterday, her party is yet to decide as to who their possible bet for the ABC post would be.

She however admitted that her son, Val Joseph, may be their party's candidate for the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president.

Val Joseph, 17, is the incoming Linao SK chairman.

If the young Ylanan becomes the opposition's bet for the post, he may be going against incoming San Isidro SK chairman, Gabrielle Marc Alan, son of Vice Mayor Alan Bucao.

As of yesterday, however, the administration refused to give information as to who their bets for the ABC and SKF presidency would be.

Under the Local Government Code, the ABC and the SKF presidents become ex-officio members of the town/city council, getting the same benefits as of the elected councilors. (FREEMAN)
