7 million from CV registered for National ID
CEBU, Philippines — The Philippine Statistics Authority in Central Visayas (PSA)-7 has achieved a total of 7,038,888 million registration for the Philippine Identification System ID (PhilSys).
Commonly known as National ID , the total registration accounted for 99.97 percent of the region's target population for 2024 which was 7.04 million as of October 31, 2024.
Breaking it down into provinces, Cebu province led the registrations with 4,452,941 individuals. Negros Oriental followed with 1,264,312 registrants; Bohol with 1,224,081; and Siquijor with 97,554 individuals.
Even though PSA-7 did not reach their yearly target, they noted that they are committed to ensuring every citizen in Central Visayas would be included in the National ID System.
Further, PSA-7 has issued a total of 4.5 million physical ID in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cards.
Meanwhile, 2.4 million individuals have their National IDs in paper-based form.
Aside from the PVC and paper IDs, PSA-7 last June 10 introduced the digital ID or ePhilID, which aims to have the same validity and functionality as the physical cards.
As a means to be more convenient, registered individuals can download their Digital National ID via https://national-id.gov.ph or the eGovPH app.
Just like any other format of the National ID, it can be presented as valid and sufficient proof of identity in various transactions in government offices and private institutions, subject to authentication, reads a portion in the advisory.
Upon entering the website or app, the user must input their demographic information and facial verification to confirm the individual's identity.
Once the download is completed, the Digital National ID will be saved in a form of Portable Document Format (PDF) file, allowing for easy access and sharing.
For those who wants to print their National ID, PSA-7 advised the public to head to the nearest PSA office to have the electronic version of their ID printed.
Also, the public is strongly encouraged to avoid using services from unauthorized printing shops or engaging with advertisements on social media platforms, such as Facebook.
Under the Republic Act No. 11055, also known as the Philippine Identification System Act, such unauthorized activities are strictly prohibited and are punishable by significant penalties.
Individuals caught engaging in unauthorized activities related to National ID, such as printing, preparation, or issuance without proper authorization, will face imprisonment ranging from three to six years. Additionally, offenders will be fined between P1 to 3 million. (CEBU NEWS)
