CEBU, Philippines – A registered nurse died after he was stabbed by an unidentified person while he was walking in Barangay Calamba past 10 p.m. Thursday.
Jay Chan Padilla, 38, a resident of Katipunan St., Barangay Tisa, died of single stab wound in his stomach.
Police investigation showed the victim was walking at an alley in Sitio Baho when the unidentified assailant followed him and without any provocation, suddenly stabbed him with a sharp bladed instrument.
PO3 Victor Ruel Ayuman of the Homicide Section said the victim's entrails were exposed.
Despite his wound, police said the victim still managed to run and shouted for help but he slumped to the ground a few meters away while the assailant was seen fleeing away.
A concerned citizen brought the victim to a trisikad and rushed him to the Cebu City Medical Center but he was declared dead on arrival.
Ayuman said they have no idea yet as to the motive behind the incident as there was no witness to it.
Asked for any possible motive, the police investigator said the victim, who is currently jobless, might just come from an illegal drug session in the area where, he said, illegal drug activities are rampant.
Ayuman said it is also possible that someone is harboring an ill feeling against the victim who was earlier seen drinking with some friends in the area. (FREEMAN)
