CEBU, Philippines – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources thru the Environmental Management Bureau 7 (EMB) lined up their three major activities for this month with the theme, “Let's Tune Up To Clean The Air".
This was announced during the Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO) 7 forum at the Philippine Information Agency 7 yesterday.
The DENR is encouraging everyone to support the Clean Air Campaign, one of their activities for the month of November.
The campaign encourages owners to tune up all their vehicles and for industries to control their emissions to help clean the air and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The EMB 7 is also celebrating the National Environmental Awareness Month, wherein agency officials will conduct a campus tour with the theme, "Environmental Sustainability: Conscience and Participation in Responsible Environmental Project."
Environment officials said that the current state of the environment calls for an "efficient, transparent, systematic and participatory implementation" of environmental laws.
Riza Saberon, Planning, Information and Education Division chief, said that information campaign on climate change has been done by the regional offices in coordination with other government agencies.
The third activity that the environment department has lined up for November is the "Climate Change Consciousness Week."
With this, local government units are encouraged to organize their own activities to support the advocacy. Some of the DENR's proposed actions that individuals and communities can do to make a difference include energy and water Conservation, tree planting and caring, "walk to work" Days, carpooling, "bike to work" days, and projects on waste recycling.
