Man, 45, arrested for allegedly sexually molesting 9-year-old girl

CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested yesterday a 45-year-old man after his wife accused him of sexually molesting a 9-year-old girl who had gone to their house last Friday afternoon to watch television.

Efimaco Lauron, 45, married, of Zone Sibuyas in barangay Paknaan in Mandaue City, was arrested after evidence showed he indeed had sexually abused a girl who lives in the neighborhood.

The Women’s Desk of the Basak Police Station said Lauron approached the girl who was watching television alone inside the man’s house.

As he sat beside the girl, he allegedly threatened her harm if she made noise.

The police said Lauron did not know his wife had caught him inserting a finger into the girl’s genitalia.

She then went out of the room, cried, and confronted her husband.

While Lauron and his wife were arguing, the girl went home.

Lauron’s wife followed the girl and told girl’s grandmother everything.

The grandmother then took the girl to the City Social Welfare Services for assistance. Later, both grandmother and child went to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

The medical test showed the child was sexually abused.

He is now detained at the Basak police station pending the filing of a rape case against him. (THE FREEMAN)
