Jealous pa kills son; Shootings kill 3 others

CEBU, Philippines – A 63-year old jealous father stabbed his son dead while three others died in separate shooting incidents in Cebu province over the weekend.

Moises Abarquez, 39, of Mancao Subdivision, Barangay Poblacion III, Carcar City died Sunday evening at the Carcar District Hospital where he was rushed after having stabbed in the stomach.

Loreto, victim's father, stabbed his son with the use of a spear out of jealousy. The suspect, who is allegedly a paralytic, despite his physical condition, tried to escape but was arrested in Barangay Liburon by the pursuing policemen.

Police Officer 1 Gilmer Noval said they recovered from the suspect an improvised shotgun.

"Nakakuha mi og tobo nga ang tumoy dunay talinis nga puthaw murag Indian pana and improvise handgun loaded with one ammunition of 12 gauge shotgun," Noval added.

The suspect is temporarily detained at the police station and will be facing charges of parricide, illegal possession of firearms and violation of the COMELEC gun ban.

Meanwhile, three other people died of separate shooting incidents in Moalboal, Minglanilla and Balamban Sunday evening.

Alvin Sambilad of Barangay Bayabas, Argao was shot dead by unidentified person in Barangay Batadbatad, Moalboal.

Alex Basilan of Barangay Tungkop, Minglanilla also died of gunshot wound from one of his three unidentified perpetrators. He was attending a disco when he had an argument with the suspects prior to the shooting.

Another shooting victim was Oliver Lliones, 26, of Sitio Buring, Barangay Abucayan, Balamban.

Lliones died after having shot by his live-in partner's brother, Jespil Tagalog, 32. (FREEMAN)
