Man arrested for possession of explosives

CEBU, Philippines – Police arrested a man in possession of explosives at a checkpoint at A.C. Cortes Street, barangay Looc, Mandaue City Monday.

Rolly Relampagos, 32, married, of San Francisco Camotes was arrested by Opao police station chief P/Insp. Wilson Abot.

The backpack he was carrying yielded 95 pieces of blasting caps and five kilos of ammonium nitrate, the main ingredient in making explosives.

Police had a difficult time communicating with Relampagos, he being a deaf-mute. He is now detained at the police station in barangay Opao. (FREEMAN)
