2 men rob PUJ passengers at gunpoint

CEBU, Philippines – Two unidentified men robbed four passengers at gunpoint inside a jeepney dawn yesterday at the corner of C. Padilla and R. Padilla Streets in Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

The victims were identified as Anna Marie Chan, 21, of Pooc, Talisay City; Ryan Manolong, 23, of Proper Linao, Minglanilla; Iris Omac, 21, of Barangay Pardo; and Estella Balasico, 19, of Barangay Basak-San Nicolas.

The victims said the jeepney was heading for Barangay Bulacao 4am when the suspects, pretending to be passengers, went on board along Colon Street. When the jeepney reached the corner of C. Padilla and R. Padilla Streets, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and declared a holdup.

The other suspect took charge of getting the victims' valuables. The suspects were described to be at their 20s.

Taken from Chan was a pouch containing her cellular phone worth P9,000 while Manolong lost her wristwatch worth P3,800 and a white gold necklace worth P500. Omac lost her silver necklace worth P500 and an ATM card while Balasico lost her shoulder bag containing a hair plainer worth P550, a pair of sandals worth P500 and P2,800 worth of cash.

The victims immediately sought police assistance, but responding policemen failed to apprehend the suspects. (FREEMAN)
