Cabbie loses earnings to robbers
CEBU, Philippines - Two unidentified male passengers robbed a taxi driver of his P2,600 earnings on J. Labra St., Barangay Guadalupe Friday dawn.
Anecito dela Cruz, 56, driver of Richielda Taxi and resident of Escario Ext. in Barangay Camputhaw reported the incident to Guadalupe Police Station.
He narrated that at around 3 a.m., the suspect flagged down his taxi (with plate numbers GXD-654) along J. Labra St. But not far away from where they boarded, one of the suspects, who was seated at the back, pointed a gun at the driver and declared a hold-up.
Because of fear, dela Cruz handed over his P2,600 earnings to the two suspects who immediately disembarked from the taxicab and fled on foot.
The victim drove his vehicle to the nearby Guadalupe Police Station to report the incident.
Meanwhile, a mother, who was assisting her child for a parade lost her shoulder bag which contained cash and valuables inside Cebu City Sports Center in Barangay Sambag on the same day.
Helen Velasquez, 36, of Barangay Pit-os, purposely left her shoulder bag at the side of the basketball court and planned to get it back later after attending to her child at around 9 a.m.
But when she came back minutes later, the victim said her Chanel bag was already nowhere to be found. She believed somebody stole it.
The bag contained P12,000 cash, a cellular phone worth P6,000, a digital camera and ATM and other assorted cards. (FREEMAN NEWS)
