Tourist policemen sent to barangays

CEBU, Philippines – The Lapu-Lapu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission is guaranteeing the safety of visitors to the city now that tourist policemen have been assigned in the barangays where hotels and beach resorts are located.

Tourism Commission Chairman Damian Gomez Jr. said with the deployment of tourist policemen in the barangays where beach resorts and hotels are located will assure the safety of visitors.

Gomez said the city government has allocated funds for the purchase of necessary equipment for the tourist police.

The Special Weapons and Tactics in Lapu-Lapu City is also being supported by the city in terms of equipment and personnel.

He said at least three sub-stations will be put up in barangays Marigondon, Mactan, and Punta Engano.

The Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation-Base 2 would be on hand in case of emergency.

Earlier, Mayor Paz Radaza said she is prioritizing police and ERUF needs. (FREEMAN)
