Man drowns in San Fernando

CEBU, Philippines – A plumber from Barangay Labangon, Cebu City who was visiting his friend's wake drowned in the seawaters off Barangay Panadtaran, San Fernando, southern Cebu yesterday morning.

The victim was identified as Felix Tabada, who was between 60 to 70 years old.

Investigation revealed that Tabada went to the town to attend the funeral of his friend in Barangay Tonggo Saturday evening.

Yesterday at around 6:00 a.m., Tabada went to Barangay Panadtaran to visit a friend and by 7:30 a.m. decided to take a swim at the nearby beach.

PO3 Marjukin Misuari, San Fernando duty desk officer, told The FREEMAN that no one immediately noticed Tabada drowning.

Residents later saw him floating along the shores and they immediately called for help.

They took the victim to the Carcar City District Hospital but the attending physician pronounced him victim dead on arrival.

Police advised the family of the victim to submit his body to an autopsy. (FREEMAN)
