Man commits suicide
CEBU, Philippines – A 75-year-old widow hanged himself with a nylon rope yesterday morning in his home in sitio Tunga, barangay Tanke, Talisay City.
Marcelino Daan used a two-meter nylon rope in hanging himself by the neck with the other end tied to one of the ceiling's wooden beams.
Based on the initial investigation conducted by the police, Daan and his son reportedly had a heated argument early Tuesday morning, and he also had another round of verbal tussle later that day this time with his daughter.
PO3 Mikie Espina said that night although his housemates noticed that Daan was silent the entire night, he did not show signs that he was about to kill himself.
Police however learned that the old man easily got upset and then fall silent for a while.
In the past however, he did not talk about committing suicide or attempt it, hence, his children were shocked yesterday morning when they saw Daan's lifeless body dangling in their living room.
He was taken to the Talisay City District Hospital in barangay San Isidro, but was declared dead. (FREEMAN)
