Mandaue eyes creation of diversionary roads for fire trucks and ambulances

CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City council has adopted a resolution requesting the Mandaue City Coordinating Council for the creation of a task force that would inspect densely popu-lated neighborhoods and recommend if necessary the construction of diversionary roads for fire trucks and ambulances.

Councilor Demetrio Cortes, Jr. who is the acting vice mayor said that one of the goals of the administration of Mayor Jonas Cortes is to eliminate or decrease fire inci-dence to prevent loss of lives and property.

Some places in the city can be considered disaster prone areas because of overcrowding where houses are made of light materials.

"A diversion road is necessary in order to address the problem," the resolution said. (FREEMAN)
