Taxi driver robbed by his 2 passengers

CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver was robbed by his two unidentified passengers in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City Friday dawn. The victim, Reynaldo Suico, 48, of Barangay Casoy, Toledo City, was driving a Ken Taxi unit with plate number GXE 994.

Suico narrated to the police that two men boarded his taxi from General Maxilom Avenue around 1 a.m.

Upon reaching Unit 5 of Oprra in Kalunasan, the passenger at the backseat pulled out a gun and declared the holdup. The one at the front seat then took the victim’s money amounting to P1,640 before the two disembarked and fled.

The victim immediately drove his vehicle towards Guadalupe Police Station to report the incident.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was arrested for taking away the ring of a woman outside a mall along N. Bacalso Avenue Friday morning.

Vanessa Amper, 30, of Laray, San Roque was standing outside the mall when the suspect, later identified as Rogelio Gabusa, of Tabunok, Talisay City, approached her and demanded for her ring.

Out of fear, the victim hand over her class ring worth P4,500 to the suspect who then immediately fled.Amper immediately sought assistance from PO3 Alexander Danao of the Traffic Group.

Gabusa was later arrested and is now detained at the city jail. —(FREEMAN NEWS)
