Woman trader, driver attacked, survive ambush

CEBU, Philippines - A businesswoman survived an ambush by two armed men on a motorcycle in sitio Pilit, barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City yesterday morning by jumping out of her car.

Debbie Yu, 55, of Paseo Annete, Ma. Luisa Village, Banilad, Cebu City escaped with head injuries.

But her 28-year-old driver , Sonny Boy Mahilum, a native of Cadiz City in Negros Occidental province, sustained gunshot wounds on the body.

The police said Yu was on her way to sitio Riverside in barangay Canduman where her company DRBG Import-Export is located when attacked.

Police said when her Toyota Fortuner, with plate number YJD-315, reached sitio Pilit, two men, wearing helmets and black jackets, attacked them.

Both victims were immediately taken to hospital.

The police from Station 6 found 9 empty 9mm shells.  (THE FREEMAN)
