Provincial police enforces revamp among chiefs

- Lesley Caminade-Vestil -

CEBU, Philippines - Because some officers were overstaying, eight police officials were relieved of their posts and were assigned to other areas effective yesterday.

Senior Supt. Erson Digal said the revamp was necessary.

Senior Inspector Edward Villarin, chief of the Boljoon Police Station, is now assigned at the Provincial Service Security Group (PSSG). He is replaced by the chief of PSSG, Inspector Raymundo Rodriguez, who is now officer-in-charge of Boljoon Police Station.

Inspector Gerard Pelare, chief of Asturias Police Station, was moved to Moalboal Police Station. He is replaced by Inspector Danilo Santillan, who was previously assigned at the Provincial Headquarters.

Senior Inspector Rolando Evalle, the chief of Moalboal, will be transferred to the Provincial Headquarters.

The chief of the Barili Police Station, Chief Inspector Alexander Solidad, is assigned at the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Administration and he will be replaced by Senior Inspector Marlon Gumabao, the former deputy officer of Talisay City Chief Superintendent Henry Biñas.

Biñas is replaced by Senior Inspector Ciriaco Larrobis, who was from the CPPO Administration.

According to Digal, the main reason for the revamp is the overstaying officers. A police chief is allowed to stay in the post for two years. Also, some officials are preparing for a UN Mission this November, such as Solidad.

Digal said that he already explained to the local chief executives of the different towns in Cebu so they will understand why their police chief was replaced.

He added that if a mayor doesn’t like the new chief in his town, he can make a request for the CPPO to evaluate.

Digal also challenged all the police chiefs to continue the flagship program of PNP to fight against illegal drugs, gambling and other crimes. —THE FREEMAN
