Jealous partner stabs woman 15 times

- Mellanie Joy C. Rosales -

CEBU, Philippines - A 22-year-od woman is in critical condition after her live-in-partner stabbed her 15 times in Barangay Guiwanon, Bantayan, Cebu last Tuesday evening.

Mary Ann Dela Cruz sustained several wounds in the different parts of her body, including a slashed throat, when her common-law husband Bryan Alon, 24, stabbed her with a five-inch kitchen knife.

Investigation revealed that Dela Cruz and Alon had an argument inside their house. Alon got jealous when he learned that Dela Cruz was having an affair with another man, who gave her a mobile phone.

It was said that the victim confirmed the allegation in the course of their argument.

Alon then asked Dela Cruz about the phone that the other man gave her. Dela Cruz gave the phone to Alon, and she left the house.

But Alon did not let her leave. Due to his anger, and thinking Dela Cruz will go see her lover, Alon stabbed her back.

Not contented, he stabbed Dela Cruz again and again, hitting her stomach, breast and other parts. It was also reported that the throat of the victim was slashed.

Neighbors of the victim immediately brought her to Bantayan District Hospital but her wounds were so severe so she was transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

Alon did not attempt to flee. He was immediately arrested by the police officers who responded after witnesses reported the incident.

He is detained at the Bantayan Police Station, waiting for the filing of appropriate charges in court. — THE FREEMAN
