Airport workers get collective negotiation agreement bonus

CEBU, Philippines - The Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority board approved the release of half of the amount of the collective negotiation agreement (CAN) bonus recommended by the airport employees, The FREEMAN learned yesterday.

Capitol Spokesman Rory Jon Sepulveda yesterday provided members of the media a copy of the recommendation by the airport employees. The document shows the amount approved by the MCIAA board.

The recommendation stated that the Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) Savings of the MCIAA reach to P98,357.372.75.

The airport employees recommended that those who have outstanding grade will receive a two-month salary plus P100,000.

On the other hand, employees who had very satisfactory grade will receive a two-month salary plus P94,000 while those with satisfactory grade will receive a two-month salary plus P88,000.

A total of 649 employees will receive the CNA bonus. However, employees with unsatisfactory rating cannot avail of the benefits.

But after a thorough discussion, the MCIAA board found out that the employees failed to justify their recommendation.

The board discovered that the MOOE savings only reached P43,014,905.81.

The MCIAA board said those employees with outstanding rating will receive four months salary plus P35,000; those with very satisfactory rating, four months salary plus P35,000; very satisfactory, 2.5 months salary plus P20,000; very satisfactory rating, 1.5 months salary plus P15,000; and satisfactory grade rating, one month salary plus P10,000.

The granting of the collective negotiation agreement bonus was based on the Department of Budget and Management circular stipulating the policy and procedural guidelines on the grant of incentives, and on the three-year CNA agreement entered into by the MCIAA and its employees on July 24, 2009.

It was learned that the incentives may be granted to both management and rank-and-file employees. – THE FREEMAN
