CEBU, Philippines - A fire over the weekend destroyed four residential houses in sitio Pungsod, barangay Lawaan 3, Talisay City damaging about P200,000 worth of property.
SFO4 Rodrigo Nayne, Talisay City Fire Department operations chief, said the fire reportedly began at the house of Ella Singson at 9:22 a.m. last Saturday.
The city firefighters with the help of their counterparts from neighboring Minglanilla town and Cebu City, controlled the fire in less than 30 minutes.
The fire destroyed three houses including that of Singson's. The fourth house was partially damaged, said the fire officer. No one was reported injured in the incident.
Based on the initial investigation, the fire allegedly started from the room of Singson's daughter, Niña Charress, who, around the time the incident took place, was in Cebu City taking up the nursing licensure exam.
Nayne said the fire could have been caused by an overheated electric fan or a lighted candle inside the room.
He said the fan might have been left unplugged causing it to overheat, or the unattended lighted candle might have caused the flame. (FREEMAN NEWS)
