CEBU, Philippines - A tanod of Barangay Cogon in Cordova town died after his fellow tanod allegedly stabbed him during a heated argument around 10pm last Saturday.
Investigation conducted by PO3 Rovelio Librando and PO3 Manfred Maarat revealed that the argument between victim Roberto Fernandez, 56, and suspect Francisco Abano ensued when the two were guarding a dance for the annual feast of Barangay Cogon.
Abano allegedly got angry with Fernandez because the victim reportedly insisted on letting his visitors enter the dance area without any payment.
Abano then stabbed Fernandez on the chest with a bladed weapon.
Fernandez was rushed to the Mactan Doctors Hospital in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Abano later voluntarily surrendered to the Cordova police. He is currently detained at the Cordova Police Station while awaiting formal charges to be filed against him today. — THE FREEMAN
