Acedillo felt welcomed at City Hall

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City congressional candidate Francisco “Ashley” Acedillo was pleased to receive a “warm welcome” by employees of the city government when he stepped foot at City Hall yesterday.

Acedillo, who is running against Rachel “Cutie” del Mar for the congressional post in the north district, said he did not feel discriminated not heard negative feedback from employees at City Hall. Del Mar is the candidate of Bando Osmeña – Pundok Kauswagan.

“Very hospitable sila and I really appreciate it. Nindot man gud ning naay free zone wherein we can campaign freely ug maka-kampanya ang lain-lain nga kandidato sa lain-lain nga grupo without any harassment,” Acedillo said.

Acedillo, a former Magdalo soldier, said he would shake hands with Mayor Tomas Osmeña if given the chance. While not dismissing the possibility, Osmeña sees the photo opportunity as mere strategy for Acedillo to gain publicity.

Still, Acedillo said his only intention to shake Osmeña’s hand, if ever, is to show respect to the mayor.

“I do not intend at all to take advantage. In fact, wala man gani ko nagdahom nga naa diri ang mayor kay when I came here, I was fully aware nga busy jud ang schedule sa mayor…wala ko magdahom nga naa siya diri,” Acedillo said.

Acedillo admitted his competitors, Del Mar and Kugi Uswag Sugbu congressional candidate Mary Ann delos Santos, have the edge in terms of resources, but he reportedly is not losing hope because he has campaigned house-to-house religiously.

“I guess ako na gyu’y nakalipot sa pinaka tumuyan sa mga Sitio. Gawas pa ana, we were able to address directly to our constituents sa pamaagi aning mga pulong-pulong,” Acedillo said.  — THE FREEMAN
