Atan calls Tomas rotten over "orange mango" tag

CEBU, Philippines - Congressional aspirant Jonathan “Atan” Guardo believes that Cebu City mayor has become “rotten” due to his physical health —a reason why Osmeña always takes along with him a doctor and two nurses during his pulong-pulongs.

Guardo said this in light of a speech Osmeña gave yesterday that referred him as “orange mango”, a thing that Guardo admitted was an insinuation of being “rotten”.

Osmeña, who served as guest speaker in yesterday’s awarding ceremonies for honor students and class valedictorians of both elementary and high school shared something about mangoes towards the end of his speech.

Osmeña told the crowd that a green mango, which he specifically referred as Presidential aspirant Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro, who is known to use the color green for his political campaign, means that Gibo is not yet ripe for the picking.

He continued that a yellow mango, which he openly referred to Liberal Party’s presidential candidate Noynoy Aquino who is also known to use color yellow in political sorties means that it is “ripe”, thus good for human consumption.

Osmeña belongs to the Liberal Party.

He then abruptly asked the crowd what an orange mango means to which some of the audience said alluded to Villar but Osmeña quickly corrected: “No, no, not Villar, but Guardo”.

However, Osmeña did not categorically explain what an “orange mango” meant but Guardo said that if Osmeña meant to refer him as rotten or “lata”, then Osmeña meant the other way around.

“If he calls it rotten, he is just referring it to himself. Kinsa may lata namong duha? Iyang kaugalingon ray lata tungod sa iyang physical health,” he said.

Guardo said that because of Osmeña’s failing health condition, the latter can not even do handshaking during pulong-pulongs.

“Is he really fit as a congressman? Wala na gani na siya’y handshake-handshake, si Margot na man lang gani mo handshake sa mga tawo,” he said.

Both Osmeña and Guardo will be facing each other for the congressional seat of the southern district this coming May 10 elections. (FREEMAN NEWS)
