PB asks LTO to conduct seminars for public transport operators

CEBU, Philippines - The provincial board is asking the Land Transportation Office to conduct seminars for the operators of common carriers to improve the land transportation in the Province of Cebu.

PB member Juan Bolo who authored the resolution said that most of the accidents involving public transportation happened because of the lack of discipline and ignorance of the existing laws that govern them.

Bolo, in his resolution approved last Monday, said that through the seminars of the LTO and constant monitoring it will improve the services of the common carriers to the public and will make them more aware and responsible.

Common carriers, as defined by the resolution, “are persons, corporations, firms, or associations engaged in the business of carrying or transporting passengers or goods or both to offer services to the public.”

LTO regional director Raul Aquilos welcomed the resolution and said it pleases him to know that the province has come up with a program that will complement with theirs.

“We will conduct the seminar anytime because we always conduct seminars in schools or in local government,” Aquilos said.

Aquilos said that they will coordinate with the local government units for an effective implementation of the seminars. — Ericson Catalan and Yvoughn Nadine Navarro, NORSU Interns/FPL  (FREEMAN NEWS)
