CEBU, Philippines - Two persons died while three others were injured in two separate vehicular accidents last Saturday night.
In Lutopan, Toledo City, Joseph Daculan, 45-year-old, driver of Carmen Copper Corporation died inside their company premises after falling off from the dump truck he was driving.
Daculan, a resident of Barangay Cantabaco, was maneuvering downhill at past 9:00 p.m. when he lost control of the truck because of the muddy road. The victim was thrown off the truck while it turned upside down more than 30 meters away from where the victim landed.
The victim’s fellow workers tried to rescue him but he was already dead due series head injuries.
In Carcar City, a man died after his motorcycle collided with an automobile along the national highway in Barangay Valladolid.
Raffy Racho Navarro, 24 was pronounced dead on arrival at the Carcar District Hospital while his passenger Joey Quijano was seriously injured.
Navarro was driving his motorcycle on the way to his residence in Sitio Carreta, Barangay Valladolid when he overtook the vehicle head of him and accidentally rammed into the car driven by Elizar Bentola.
Bentola suffered minor injuries as well as his passengers, Cleofe and Yedda Cañete.
Investigation shows that both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions and simultaneously tried to overtake the vehicles ahead of them. Injured victims are still under observation at the Carcar District Hospital. — Niña G. Sumacot/FPL (THE FREEMAN)
