Biggest RP flag to be unfurled in Liloan March 9

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Livingstone Christian Academy, in cooperation with the Municipality of Liloan, will be host to the unfurling of the biggest Philippine Flag on March 9.

The size of the flag will be revealed on Tuesday yet.

Grace Valdez of the Livingstone Christian Academy, in an interview with The FREEMAN, said the main objective of the event is “to use the flag as a tool and as a symbol for all-Filipinos’ in the restoration of genuine peace, economic and global development.”

Valdez said about 200 people will unfurl the Philippine flag at the two-hectare lot in barangay Jubay.

“We also plan to keep the flag unfurled from March 9 to 16,” Valdez said, adding that the historic event is not just for the town of Liloan but for the province of Cebu.

Sponsors of the event are the Hallelujah Prophetic Global Foundation, PG Tower Prayer for All Nations, ABS Gen Herbs International Corporation and Philherbs Nutraceuticals Corporations.

Grace Galindez Gupana, the chief executive officer of the ABS GEN Herbs International, will make the flag.

In September 2006, Gupana also made a gigantic Philippine flag and unfurled it on the face of a mountain in Nueva Vizcaya. However, strong winds ripped the flag, which measured 100 by 200 meters.

The new Philippine flag that was unfurled in Baguio in 2008 utilized 14,000 yards of taffeta nylon and 1,250 yards of satin for the stars and sun. It took more than a month to make it. – Garry B. Lao (THE FREEMAN)
