Glenn reiterates face-off challenge with Greg

-

CEBU, Philippines - Businessman Glenn Soco yesterday reiterated his challenge to Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez for a debate.

In a press conference, Soco said Cebuanos deserve to know Sanchez’ accomplishments as vice governor and his contribution to Cebu in the past seven years in office.

Aside from this, Soco said it was not him, but the youth in Cebu that got “insulted” when Sanchez said he could accept a debate with an “elementary grader.”

Soco said he would not set conditions for the debate, in fact, private groups or the media can arrange it.

“Dili ko magpili bisan asa nga lugar nga himoon ang debate namong duha ug ako siya nga i-challenge nga maayo ipabati sa iyang estasyonan sa radio aron maprobar nga tinud-anay nga public service ang iyang estasyonan ug dili nagpili lang kinsa ipabati nga tingog,” said Soco.

Soco said what Governor Gwendolyn Garcia needs is a vice governor who can support her program and projects.

Sanchez had since fallen out of Garcia’s “One Cebu” party and chose to run with former Cebu City Councilor Hilario Davide III who is eyeing the governorship post.

Meanwhile, Soco said unemployment and issues concerning the environment will be the issues he would give attention to should he be elected as vice governor. Soco said the provincial government can very well establish good linkages with the private sector in addressing the two issues.

Businessmen in Mandaue City already expressed support to Soco’s candidacy. Soco is the former vice president of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry. — Jose P. Sollano/JMO   (FREEMAN NEWS)
