Burial assistance to continue despite conflict in 4th district

CEBU, Philippines - Despite the ongoing dispute over the House seat in the fourth congressional district of Cebu province, sitting Congressman Benhur Salimbangon continues doing his work for his constituents.

Salimbangon is set to distribute the first batch of 114 checks for this year amounting to P341,000 as financial assistance to those bereaved families in the entire district.

Each check amounts to P3,000 for adults and P2,000 for kids.

These checks to be distributed will make a total of 726 beneficiaries of the program or a total of P2,154,000 since its implementation in 2008.

The burial assistance program of Salimbangon is the first ever in the history of politics in the fourth district. Salimbangon will personally distribute the checks to the claimants per municipality in which the exact date and time will only be announced through his municipal coordinators to personally go to the claimant’s house.

For those whose claims are delayed, Salimbangon has asked them to be more patient considering the heavy workload of the personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, who will be personally facilitating the distribution of checks. — Gregg M. Rubio/MEEV   (FREEMAN NEWS)
