'Improved telecom services lure investors'

CEBU, Philippines - Local officials of Bantayan, Santa Fe and Madridejos called on the management of Globe Telecom to provide additional telephone lines in Bantayan Island.

Bantayan Mayor Geralyn Escario-Cañares told The FREEMAN that businessmen who earlier expressed interest to invest in Bantayan and its adjacent municipalities inquired first on the status of the telecommunication lines in the area on top of other concerns like power and water supplies.

Cañares already brought up the matter to Cebu fourth district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon who promised to discuss the said concern with Globe Telecom officials here in Cebu and in Manila.

Cañares said she is still waiting for the official response from the management of the telephone company.
