In Balamban new town hall, lights for Transcentral Highway

-

CEBU, Philippines - The municipal government of Balamban has inaugurated its new town hall and carried out a formal switching on of street lights installed along the Transcentral Highway from barangay Gaas to barangay Poblacion.

Senate Majority Floor Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri was invited by Balamban Mayor Alex Binghay and town officials to grace the inauguration of the P31-million municipal hall and the ceremony for the street lighting project.

Binghay said that the municipal government received the financial assistance worth P5 million from Senator Joker Arroyo for the purchase of street lighting facilities and that the amount was released through the National Electrification Administration.

Also, the municipal government inked an agreement with Globe/Innove for the putting up of electrical posts.

Residents, commuters and motorists welcomed the said development because the project is seen to minimize road accidents at the Transcentral Highway, most especially on foggy nights.

Further, Binghay said that the people of Balamban now have a new municipal building with a better design; fronting the town’s oval, which is just a few meters from the shoreline. The building is adjacent to the old town hall.

The mayor acknowledged the support of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who promised to provide furniture for the new building, and Cebu third district Rep. Pablo John Garcia.

For his part, Zubiri congratulated Binghay and the town officials for the good projects implemented in Balamban.

Balamban is also a beneficiary of the “P1 Million per Town” project of Zubiri. – Jose P. Sollano/MEEV   (FREEMAN NEWS)
