"Robbers" claim bail set at P100,000 for taking P2,500 worth phone

CEBU, Philippines - Two men, who are believed to be the perpetrators of several robbery incidents near Barangay Kamagayan victimizing mostly students, are required to pay P100,000 for their temporary liberty after a case has been filed against them before the Regional Trial Court yesterday.

Domney Magno Forones was arrested by barangay tanods last Friday night after he and his companion, a certain “Amang,” robbed a student of the Cebu Normal University of his cellular phone that cost P2,500. “Amang” was able to elude arrest after a brief chase.

The victim, Benjamin Urtal, 18, said that Forones and cohort poked a knife at his back and took his cellular phone.

Forones was cornered by the responding tanods but Amang was able to escape.

Urtal’s phone was not recovered as according to Forones, he had already passed it to Amang before he was cornered.

The victim positively identified the suspects, who are both charged with robbery and required to pay a bail of P100,000 for their temporary release from jail. – Jasmin R. Uy/WAB   (FREEMAN NEWS)
