1 dead in road mishap
CEBU, Philippines - A 31-year-old man died after he was hit by a still unidentified four-wheel vehicle while cruising towards Fuente Osmeña on board his motorcycle past 1am last Friday.
Investigation revealed that Michael Lopez of Ma. Theresa Village, Guadalupe was driving his Honda motorcycle with plate number GH-7104 when he was hit by a white four-wheel vehicle near Coco Mall.
The motorcycle then lost balance and rammed into the middle island, tossing Lopez and his companion, Jackspade Caberos, 28, off the motorcycle. The four-wheel vehicle sped away.
The accident happened barely a stone throw away from the Cebu Doctor’s Hospital but the victims were brought to the Cebu City Medical Center where Lopez was declared dead on arrival.
Investigation is now underway to identify the driver of the four-wheel vehicle. Traffic investigators said the driver is facing a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
