Five-year-old child drowns in Bonbon
CEBU, Philippines - A five-year-old girl was drowned in a water tub Thursday morning in barangay Bonbon, Cebu City.
The fatality was identified as Rowerica Jay Bonghanoy Manayaga of sitio Mawmawan.
Farmer Roldan Taborada, the father of the victim, told police that the victim was seen floating lifeless around 10:30 a.m. in a water tub.
Taborada sought assistance from his neighbor to remove the girl’s body from the tub. They tried to revive her but she was no longer breathing.
PO2 Edario Manatad of the Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section said Taborada claimed that when he and his family woke up around 10 a.m., the victim, the eldest of his two daughters, was not around.
Manatad said Taborada and his wife searched for their daughter and found her lifeless floating in a small water tub few meters away.
The child’s body was taken to the San Fernando Funeral Homes for an autopsy.
