Lloyd Geraldez alias “Arket”, 25, was declared dead on arrival at the Toledo City District Hospital after he was stabbed several times in various parts of his body yesterday in sitio Lawis, barangay Luray II.
Investigation showed that prior to the incident, the victim suddenly went wild inside the videoke bar operated by one Bonifacio Lazaga III upon learning that some of the customers were allegedly “chummy” with his girlfriend who is working for Lazaga at the said bar.
SPO3 Gil Lastimosa of the Toledo City Police Station said that according to witnesses, Lazaga and a certain Gino tried to pacify Geraldez but the latter instead began bashing and kicking tables and chairs and turning them upside down. Afterwhich, Lazaga and Gino tried to put him in restrain but Geraldez dashed outside of the bar into a dark area so the two went after him.
Lastimosa further said that from there, a staggering Geraldez then went back to the bar already with multiple stab wounds on his body. He was then rushed to the hospital.
Lazaga later surrendered to the police to reportedly clear his name. He is now a subject for an investigation.
He alleged that it was Gino who stabbed the victim dead. Gino, as of this writing, is still a subject for a manhunt operation.
The body of the victim was taken to the St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.
Meanwhile, a man died after a still unidentified assailant peppered him with bullets in sitio Taytayan, barangay Agujo, Daanbantayan while he was viewing a television program last Saturday.
Samuel Habagat Duat, 42, died on the spot after suffering from fatal wounds on his chest. The bullets went through his body, according to PO2 Columbus Noynay, Jr. of the Daanbantayan Police Station.
The wife of the victim identified as Concordia Duat alleged that Samuel was watching television from outside of their house when a man suddenly appeared near their gate and fired several shots at him.
The perpetrator, who then fled after the incident, was described by Concordia to be “heavy built, estimated to be 5’7” tall.” Since he covered most parts of his face with a T-shirt, Concordia could not elaborate more on the facial profile.
Responding policemen recovered eight empty shells and two slugs of a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.
An ongoing investigation is conducted to identify the assailant as well as establish his motive for shooting Samuel to death. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
