Jealousy drives man to commit suicide
CEBU, Philippines - Jealousy reportedly drove a 55-year-old man to commit suicide last Thursday in barangay Esperanza, Aloguinsan town.
Teofilo Sabala was found dead past 7 a.m. by his 51-year-old wife Avelina inside their shanty with a rope tied around his neck.
Avelina told the police that prior to the incident, Teofilo had attempted to commit suicide on several occasions.
He reportedly first attempted to end his life by slashing his wrists and had twice tied a rope around his neck.
Avelina claimed that last Wednesday night, Teofilo stayed outside their house as he was suspecting that his wife has a lover.
But the following morning, she reportedly found him hanging from a beam of their shanty.
Teofilo was taken to the Aloguinsan Municipal Health Center but Doctor Lyndon Villegas declared him dead already.
