Stray bullet hits boy, 3, in Talamban
CEBU, Philippines - A three-year-old boy was roused from his sleep when a stray bullet hit his side after an unidentified person fired a gun around 5 a.m. yesterday at Highway 77, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.
The boy’s mother, Meraluna Salazar, 31, told the police that she and her son, together with her mother, Elisary Salazar, were sleeping inside the living room of their house when a burst of gunfire was heard coming from outside.
The victim then cried in pain which prompted Meraluna to verify and saw him already bloodied.
Meraluna and her mother then rushed the boy to the nearby North General Hospital for the treatment of the gun shot wound he sustained on the left side of his body.
Meanwhile, a 34-year-old man also landed at the hospital when he was shot yesterday midnight by an unidentified man while he was sitting at the balcony of his house in Sitio Kawayan, Barangay Sambag 2.
Waldemar Paces, alias “Walding” sustained a gunshot wound on the left side of his body and was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
Paces said that the unidentified assailant, who was wearing a black jacket and a bonnet to cover his face, immediately fled towards the interior portion of the place. — Niña G. Sumacot (THE FREEMAN)
